28/01/2022Daddy Discipline Returns With A Criss New Episode Of "Riddim Culture" From The Radio X Vaults

Originally aired on Frankfurt community Radio X in the late 90s - early 00s, Daddy Discipline's "Riddim Culture" show enjoys a cult status among those in the know. Back in 2020, when we launched our #Greedio audio component, we returned to the vaults to retrieve some of these shows and, having received Daddy Discipline's blessing, decided to upload selected episodes to our Mixcloud channel, a sonic archive of sorts, for the elders to revisit and the youth to discover. This is our first "Riddim Culture" revival show of 2022 and the seventh in our exclusive series, so let's dig in:

"Sound & Pressure" is the name of Daddy Discipline's latest "Riddim Culture" instalment and refers to the absolutely beautiful tune  by Federal Record star singer Hopeton Lewis that set the template for early rocksteady.  "Taking a trip from the 'reggaesoulfunkional' and rocksteady sound of 60s and 70s Jamaica to 21st century dancehall roots and dubstep, mixing and blending the analogue old with the digital new," Daddy Discipline "comes down with another criss Jamaican revive selection," featuring "artists like sand." The two-hour session includes interpretations by The Mighty Maytones, The Meditations, Tinga Stewart, Peter Hunnigale, Joe Higgs, The Fugitives, the aforementioned Hopeton Lewis, Cedric IM Brooks, Tony Tuff, Warrior Queen & Pressure, YT, Marcia Griffiths, Tarrus Riley, The Wailers and many more.

Adding to the mix are Daddy Disciplines silky smooth and informative interjections, making for another highly enjoyable, 'rocking' selection. For the full sound, simply apply some pressure to the player below.
