Thank G*d it's Friday! And, to celebrate the rapidly approaching weekend, we're back with a brand-new instalment of WeltBeat selector and host Jean Trouillet's regular far-reaching Globalwize format. This time, we bring you a 'Punky Reggae Party' special, as Trouillet is once again joined by the honourable and knowledgable studio guest Jack Sapphire.
For this "Globalwize Radioshow #424", the two place a special focus on the evolutionary lines between the genres of proto-punk, punk and reggae and the protagonists championing these styles, with a special emphasis on iconic German outfit Ton Steine Scherben on the occasion of the new book release covering the 'dazzling' life of band manager Nikel Pallat ("Das schillernde Leben des Nikel Pallat" by Christof Dörr). Originally broadcast on Frankfurt's community radio X, this show is now streaming exclusively via Greedio on Mixcloud and includes heavyweight musical contributions by Bob Marley ("Punky Reggae Party"), the Sex Pistols, Polish punk reggae band Smiero Kliniczna with Jack Sapphire on vocals, the above mentioned Ton Steine Scherben, Bad Brains, The Clash, Misty in Roots, Hazmat Modine, Brygada Kryzys, Cimarons, Phantom, The Ruts, Steel Pulse, Aswad and Tabby 'Cat' Kelly.
