Dub and Version

12/01/2024Start 2024 In Style W/ A Brand-New Instalment Of Daddy Discipline's 'Riddim Culture'

Hard to believe that we've almost gone a full year without a new instalment of Daddy Discipline's notorious "Riddim Culture" format. But looking back, we last uploaded his "Fire Burning" show our Greedio channel on Mixcloud in January of last year. Apologies for that. So here's to making up for the long wait as we present you a brand-new 120 minutes of finest "revive pearls dubwise and otherwise" retrieved from the radio X vaults for your and our listening pleasure. We hereby present you "Dub and Version":

"Back in the late 60s/early 70s Jamaican studio engineers and producers began to experiment with new recording and mixing techniques. It was no longer just about what was put into an artist's recordings but also what was left out in the process from studio to street," Daddy Discipline describes. "Thereby evolved the version. The precedents set by people like King Tubby, Byron Smith, Syd Bucknor, Errol Thompson, Karl Pitterson, Lee Perry, Sylvan Morris, Rupie Edwards and many others, created a foundation for dub and the remix sound culture of the 21st Century."

Expect "'nuff versions" of tunes by John Holt, Cedric "Im" Brooks, Big Youth, Burning Spear, Yabby You, Slim Smith, Ernest Wilson, Enos McLeod, The Heptones, Clint Eastwood, Merlyn Webber and then some. You can stream the full show below or on Mixcloud via Greedio.
