Flashback to 2020, when Bologna-based three-piece Oké, alias veteran producer Andrea "Katzuma" Visani, William Simone (percussion, FX) and Andrea Calì (keys), released their lush 18-track double album "Deserto" on Original Cultures, blending influences from library music and cosmic jazz with afrohouse rhythms and outernational hues. Despite never getting around to actually reviewing the album, "Oasi (Deserto Remixed)" now presents us with a second chance. Released at the tail end of 2021, Oké's infectious productions receive an exclusive remix treatment by nine artists on both sides of the Atlantic.
"Retooled into a variety of dancefloor-friendly productions," Oké's originals are now revisited by the likes of Detroit's Shigeto, DJ Dez and Sterling Toles as well as Italian friends of the band such as Populous, Godblesscomputers, DJ Rocca, Silvano Del Gado and "Katzuma" himself. Cascading synths and physical beats line up with infectiously intricate rhythms and nightclub allure, bound to please a wide array of club aficionados and more sedentary connoisseurs of electronic music styles. Mirroring the expansive, imaginary landscapes of "Deserto", this top-shelf remix album is a true oasis of sound that makes for a thirst-quenching follow-up release.
