Just ahead of tonight's Berlin live show MALOX premier the video to their latest drum- and sax-heavy, ska-punk rampage "Natanya", gifting us a friendly dose of everyday, metropolitan madness. From traffic jam manoeuvres to athletic ambitions and various types of alpha male behaviour, including the periodic release of bodily fluids, this low-budget piece of art leads the way for least f***s given this week.
Last week Eyal Talmudi and Roy Chen unveiled their brandnew album "Gaza Trip" at Tel Aviv's Bascula. Visit Gaya Turtle's photo gallery to catch a glimpse of what went down.
MALOX will be touring Germany and the Czech Republic this week and next. Find all dates here.

Time for your daily dose of pseudonyms: If you're a fan of the notorious Karl Hector & the Malcouns (Karl Hector being the German producer and guitarist JJ Whitefield, aka Jan Weissenfeldt), then this one should be right up your alley. The enigmatic Nairobi-based, Lebanese multi-instumentalist Charif Megarbane (aka Cosmic Analog Ensemble or Trans-Mara Express) just released a spanking new 16-track tribute to the so-called "originators of Afrodelic Kraut [...]

Sad news from Turkey these days and most recently from Istanbul, our home away from home. As we think of our friends and the people we love around the globe and as we watch Kutiman's latest installment of "Mix The City", we ask ourselves, could it not actually be this 'easy'? Look around the world, beautiful people everywhere producing a multitude of sounds, diverse echos and patterns, resonating within and reminding us that life is the only true [...]
After delivering a jawdropping mix of vinyl rarities from Beautiful Egypt back in January, Belgium's token purveyors of 'global eclectic supersounds' return to the 1's and 2's to spotlight a festive selection of Turkish tunes from the 60s-80s. Just to be clear, this is not your average pseudo-nostalgic, folkloric post-colonialist , Western-centric compilation of supposedly exotic sounds. Instead, Radio Martiko line up a host of tracks straight from the [...]
Live as can be! When we heard that Boom Pam had scheduled an instrumental live performance with some of their close musical friends at Tel Aviv's Merkaz Enav auditorium we teamed up with the local Snifff Productions crew and fairplanet.org to bring you an exclusive live stream of the concert via Greedio, our streaming platform currently in the making.
To be honest, even while preparing to go live, we did not quite know, what to expect. But once this marvelous [...]
A few weeks back we received a promotional copy of Daniel Haaksman's second artist album "African Fabrics", which officially released two weeks ago. Besides the vibrant blend of African sounds with bass music styles from the Northern hemisphere, we were also intrigued by the story behind the album title itself; so-called African fabrics, perceived as being of African heritage, whereas actually they are a colonial byproduct, originally imported by the Dutch by [...]

Last Saturday we realised our first full-length live stream via Greedio, featuring an instrumental journey by Boom Pam & friends playing the Merkaz Enav auditorium in Tel Aviv. If you tuned in, you may have noticed that crazy sax player by the name of Eyal Talmudi, one half of local two-piece MALOX.
Set to release its third LP "Gaza Trip", this highly combustible duo just premiered the visual companion to its very first album cut, a sublime spinoff of [...]

Wake up everybody because today, March 3rd, is Music Freedom Day, a day that pays tribute to everyone struggling to move things forward in the fight for human rights, the right of artists to perform their music as well as the right of people all around the globe to listen to that music. Because after all, music and art need to be considered basic human rights.
Or, in the words of the great Fela Kuti, one could also say that “music is the weapon of the [...]
Strolling through the depths of the world wide web, we stumbled on this nicely curated collection of 15 Iranian vocal works by female singers and musicians, “whose voices have been suppressed in recent years [and that] are forbidden from singing alone and can only sing along with men”. Although some of the instrumental bits are slightly melodramatic for our taste, the magic of this compilation is truly in the beautifully soothing voices and mystic [...]
