05/07/2021Listen To Our Latest Spotify Playlist Featuring 20 Extraordinary Tracks From The Past Month

As we enter into the month of July, we take a look back at our favourite releases and musical discoveries from the month of June. Our latest Spotify playlist for Greedio is yet another attempt at doing the wide array of fantastic music out there justice and inspiring our readers to keep on listening. To give you an idea of what to expect, here's a quick rundown of the artists and tracks included:

"Greedio X June '21" kicks off on a driving track by Iranian sorna flutist Ehsan Abdipour off the recent "This is Tehran?" compilation on 30M records and meshes wonderfully with its predecessors, i.e. Berber artist Hassan Wargui's track "Azerf", recently released on Hive Mind Records, a vintage track by Mancunian musician and producer Muslimgauze, off his 1997 and recently reissued album "Narcotic" and another banger off of London-based Moroccan artist U-Cef's 1999 album "Halalium". We then enter the realm of ebullient French-Togolese afro-funk collective Vaudou Game, led by frontman Peter Solo, with a rocking track called "Camisole" off their new album "Noussin" and follow that up with an infectious new single on Habibi Funk Records by Moroccan phenomenon Fadoul, the beautiful Anatolian psych-folk stunner "Hop Çerkez" by Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek as well as the fantastic new production "Tata" by French-Greek artist Johan Papaconstantino, which you can watch in the video below.

Next up, it's Danish-Turkish three-piece İpek Yolu with a new outtake entitled "Afro Turko" from their forthcoming album "Tropical Anatolia" on Sounds of Subterrania and a brilliant new track off a recent collaborative EP by Hamburg-based sound artist Andi Otto and Rwandan inanga (a traditional stringed music instrument) master Sophia Nzayisenga. We then venture into Latin territory with Aluna Project's "Cumbia Colombiana", Colombian duo Contento's new single "Singo Llorando" and Swiss-Colombian undertaking Jaguar's recent release "Guadelupe", both on El Palmas Music. After that, it's a new Quantic remix of Khruangbin's "Pelota", the mind-melting "Maracas" of musical mastermind Alex Figueira (Fumaça Preta, Conjunto Papa Upa) and an organ-led stomper by Mexico City's La Redada, taken from Coco Maria's recent "Club Coco" various artists release on Bongo Joe.

France-based afro-fusion collective Balaphonics takes over from there, with the sizzling “Demain dès l’aube” off their new album “Spicy Boom Boom”, paving the way to the monster grooves of South African underground force BLK JKS and their melancholy belter “Harare”, now available on Glitterbeat. Bringing our selection to a downtempo close is a gorgeously laidback instrumental track by Athens-based producer Moderator and, last but not least, the celestial "Black Gold & Green" by Jamaican vocalist Ken Boothe.
