Following a pair of specials, WeltBeat host and selector Jean Trouillet returns to the studio to air a brand-new solo episode of his regular, far-reaching world music format. Originally broadcast on Frankfurt community radio X, this latest instalment is now available to stream à volonté in our very own Greedio Mixcloud channel. The "Globalwize Radioshow #432" kicks off on a Medieval Eastern Orthodox choral note with The Bulgarian Voices Angelite and, for the first hour, places a special emphasis on vocal productions. Next in line is Jerusalem-born singer-songwriter Mor Karbasi, followed by Salento-based Mediterranean ensemble La Cantiga de la Serena and Tarantino project Yarákä, mystical Algerian singer Houria Aïchi, eclectic US folk artist Rhiannon Giddens, Ghent-based seven-piece Gaïsha led by vocalist Aïcha Haskal, Belgian multicultural formation Hijaz, Dresden-based guitarists Erkin Cavus and Reentko Dirks merging the worlds of East and West on "Ütopya", Norwegian folk music trio Østerlide, Galician folk outfit Ailá, Cologne's afrobeat collective Muito Kaballa (read more here), Wade Schuman's band Hazmat Modine, the great Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, Nigerian electronic new wave artist Ekiti Sound and, last but not least, the enigmatic 1970s Kenyan outfit The Mighty Cavaliers from their forthcoming reissue on Want Some Records.
