Globalwize Radioshow #372
We are back with another edition of Jean Trouillet's Globalwize Radioshow on Frankfurt's Radio X that you can now revisit exclusively in our recently inaugurated Greedio Mixcloud channel. Believe it or not this is Jean's 372nd show and again, it leads all to and through all sorts of musical discoveries from around the globe with Jean moderating in German and English, adding insight and anecdotes along the way.
If you didn't know, Jean originally began spinning reggae in the late 1970s, went on to organize gigs and tours for African acts (e.g. Youssou N'Dour in 1984) and also authored specialised write-ups to music and general interest magazines. In 1989, he contributed several chapters as well as the introduction to a book entitled "WeltBeat", i.e. the first German book on the new phenomenon of 'world music'. That same year he was appointed Head of A&R and PR for Network Medien. Some 25 years later, fellow Frankfurt 'Partizani' Shantel hired him as CEO of Essay Recordings. Today, among other things, Jean manages the Greedy for Best Music label and is currently building up the Greedio channel.
As mentioned before, Jean also hosts his own radio show, inviting listeners to join him on genre-bending musical journeys to all kinds of musical cultures and worlds of sound. His Globalwize Radioshow #372 is a genuine treat, featuring eclectic sounds from Belgium to Switzerland, Latvia to Turkey (for an coincidental musical reunion with Shantel), Siberia to Ethiopia and Hungary to North Africa, or rather Lyon. We recently decided to launch a new monthly playlist format on Spotify for our listeners to enjoy and stream as they like. Our first edition brings us 20 tracks that we thoroughly enjoyed, some vintage gems, but mostly recent releases.
