Five years after their last album ‘Catastrophic Life’, the Jewish Monkeys are back with a new single! The world has become even more catastrophic since 2019, but the motto is: Don't despair, life must be celebrated!

And who better to do that than the Jewish Monkeys? A few gigs in Germany in the summer of 2024 gave the band a new spirit and drive. The plan was quickly born to record an EP. What ties all the tracks together is that they’re classics, originally written and composed by Jewish artists, now taken to an entirely new place by the Jewish Monkeys.

The first single from the ‘Pop Juice’ EP, which will be released in March 2025, is a cover version of the classic ‘Walk of Life’ by Dire Straits. The catchy sound combines punk influences with an energetic surf vibe, which gives the song a completely new dynamic. The ironic, sometimes satirical elements, which are typical of the Jewish Monkeys' style, create an unmistakable, rousing interpretation that lets the legendary 80s song shine in a completely new light.

The song ‘Walk of Life’ is about the joy and power of music. The lyrics tell the story of a musician who performs and brings joy into people's lives. In the verses, he is described as a figure who spreads hope and energy through his music. The ability of music to give comfort and accompany people in difficult times is particularly emphasised.

Although the song sounds light and cheerful, there are subtle hints in the lyrics that the musician himself may be going through difficult phases and that this is precisely why the connection to music is so strong. ‘Walk of Life’ celebrates the “journey of life” and the unifying power of music, which always provides moments of happiness regardless of the challenges
