Do You Remember?

26/11/2024Berlin's Sonic Interventions Unveil Nine Intuitive, Kaleidoscopic Manifestations On Debut Longplayer

Laying proof to the notion that a catastrophic turn of events can foster positivity and ultimately lead to the creation of something inherently good is this latest full-length drop on Agogo Records. So positive, in fact, that it continues to expand, ultimately transcending the limitations of self and attaining a sense of heightened spirituality. Rest assured, we have not lost sight of the ground beneath our feat. We are, however, poised to take flight, propelled by the sounds of Berlin's Sonic Interventions and their recently released debut album "Do You Remember?".

Here's the backstory: Stranded in the dismal grasp of an ongoing global pandemic and ensuing lockdown back in 2020, many a creative on Berlin's once thriving transcultural landscape was left to his or her own devices as if stuck in some sort of creative vacuum. This dire situation eventually caused a select group of individuals at home in Berlin's bustling jazz scene to seek each other out, to regroup, co-create and let the healing begin. Sonic Interventions began as just that, a loose agglomeration of spontaneous jam sessions to conquer the idle void and reclaim the musiverse: "Live spectacles, in which moments of meditation and trance rise into heavy grooves, traditional rhythms of the African and Latin American continents coalesce with urban styles such as Hip Hop, Trap and House, [combining] poetry and dance inspired by the cosmos, ancient alchemy and world mythologies."

Representing a level playing field of diasporic, futuristic collaboration, Sonic Interventions have now managed to catch lightning in a bottle, bringing their impromptu, improvisational gatherings to the studio for others to rejoice in and thrive on. Over the course of nine kaleidoscopic manifestations, Sonic Interventions invite listeners on an opulent, intuitive journey through the expanses of mind, body and soul that is both ancestral and starry-eyed. To quote the Beastie Boys: "Body movin', body movin', A1 sound and the sound's so soothin'..." There's no way this groove won't catch you. This here is no time to dwell on the past. A new dawn is rising and Sonic Interventions are here to ease the transition.
