Hot on the heels of releasing Berlin author Maxim Biller's brand-new studio album "Studio", we return with the latest instalment of WeltBeat host and selector Jean Trouillet's far-reaching Globalwize format. Originally aired on Frankfurt community radio X, the show is now available to stream via our greedio channel on Mixcloud. Serving up a wide array of international musical styles, Trouillet delivers another two-hour show with plenty of quality productions from around the globe. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect:
The "Globalwize Radioshow #456" includes the wonderful Bayou reinterpretations of well-known hits by artists such as Cindy Lauper, Depeche Mode, Genesis and more by Macadam Farmer, new music by the exceptional French pianist, vocalist and composer Grégory Privat from his seventh studio album "Phoenix", Belgian percussion trio Spëcht: (fka Hands in Motion) on Zephyrus Records, Berlin-based drummer and composer Tilo Weber with his Five Fauns quintet, Finnish accordion adventurist and composer Kimmo Pohjonen, Grammy award-winning, Paris-based American composer and guitarist Bryce Dessner, multi-cultural ensemble Halva (read more here), the multi-faceted Job Chajes Sextet from the Netherlands, German Klezmer outfit Vagabund, legendary German songwriter and lyricist Wolf Biermann, Hungarian five-piece Söndörgö playing alongside their special guest, i.e. the US saxophonist extraordinaire Chris Potter (watch the video below), boundary-pushing French quartet INK presenting its latest album "African Roots", the Atse Tewodros Project comprising Italian and Ethiopian traditional musicians and led by Ethio-Italian singer, writer and performer Gabriella Ghermandi, Brazilian artist Flavia Coelho with her fifth album "GINGA", a new reissue by elusive Kenyan afro-funk groovers The Mighty Cavaliers (read more here) and, last but not least, Réunion outfit Lindigo from their album "Oyé Maloya".
