For the latest two-hour episode of his long-standing and far-reaching deep listening experience, host Jean Trouillet invites listeners to dive into an ocean of global sounds. His Globalwize show #375 embarks on a soothing selection of contemporary electronic and neo-classical music, passing through new material by Malian artist Oumou Sangaré and a 2007-released Malian crossover project by Dee Dee Bridgewater, then lounging out to the Bahama Soul Club and jazz/swing legend Billie Holiday, before Israel's Kutiman, Tunisia's Ammar 808 and Berlin's Babylon Orchestra serve up their thrilling and versatile cross-cultural collaborations. Next, we're off to Japan, where traditional koto rhythms and bamboo flutes merge with spiritual jazz and funky percussion, followed by Spanish pianist Dorantes, mythical African jazz-funk sounds by the Oneness of Juju, the disco madness of Ziya Ertekin, alias Blue Flamingo, and Zambian vocalist Racheal Botha and finally some choice dub and reggae picks by the likes of Burning Spear, Inna de Yard, Horace Andy and Phillip Fullwood.
